Despite a report from TMZ that singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell is comatose, a statement on her website reads “she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses”, even though she remains in hospital.
The 71-year old was found unconscious in her home on 31 March.
There has been no word on her condition or prognosis. But, prior to her hospitalisation, Mitchell spoke publicly about suffering from Morgellons Disease, a rare skin condition which she described as “this weird, incurable disease that seems like it’s from outer space.” Morgellons is controversial with many doctors denying it even exists.
Furthermore, the statement reads “As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight”.
Mitchell’s hits include “Chelsea Morning”, “Both Sides, Now”, and “Big Yellow Taxi”.
