Lloyd Cele gets it on in this narrative concert about the life and music of the acknowledged Prince of Motown – The Prince of Soul, Marvin Gaye. The show is more than just a tribute show in which a bunch of hits are strung together.
In a phone interview, Cele tells me that Let’s Get It On – the Life and Music of Marvin Gaye examines the musician’s journey “from the time that he was a child, when he sang in church, some of the influence, his inspiration, his relationship with his dad and his family. And we talk about the music around that time as well, the 1950s [as well as] some of the issues he faced regarding racism”.
Gaye’s music is timeless and the show doesn’t disappoint, featuring over 20 songs including Sexual Healing, Let’s Get It On, and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
