The recent Fees Must Fall movement is just one example of how many young South Africans feel the Rainbow Nation has failed them.
A new book called, Writing What We Like: A New Generation Speaks, gives expression to some of the frustrations and joys of being a young, black South African. Various well-known figures, like Shaka Sisulu, Simphiwe Dana, David Kau, Loyisa Gola and Sivuyile Ngesi, contribute essays on diverse topics like black tax, mother-tongue education, and dating.
The book is edited by Yolisa Qunta, who is also a contributor.
